In a dramatic turn of events in the summer transfer window, Slovenian international Benjamin Šeško has reportedly agreed to join Manchester United, edging out fierce competition from Newcastle United in one of the most closely watched transfer battles of the season.

Šeško, 22, currently with RB Leipzig, has emerged as United’s top striker target following a season where he netted 21 goals across all competitions. After weeks of negotiations and speculation, sources confirm that Šeško has agreed to personal terms with Manchester United on a contract running until 2031.

Manchester United’s CEO Omar Berrada and Head of Recruitment Christopher Vivell played pivotal roles in securing the deal, with Vivell reportedly instrumental in swaying Šeško’s decision in favor of Old Trafford. The club submitted an €85 million bid, surpassing Newcastle’s €90 million package in terms of player preference and long-term vision.

Manager Rúben Amorim has made strengthening the attack a priority this summer, already bringing in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Šeško is expected to be the final piece in United’s revamped frontline, offering a powerful presence and clinical finishing ability.

While RB Leipzig has yet to officially confirm the transfer, Šeško’s absence from recent pre-season matches and reports of him training individually suggest that a move is imminent. United fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement, which could come before the club’s final pre-season fixture against Fiorentina on August 9.

If finalized, Šeško will join a United squad aiming to reclaim domestic and European glory. His arrival could also impact the future of current striker Rasmus Højlund, who has expressed a desire to stay and compete for his place.
