Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of newly appointed Assistant Coach, Akin Olowokere, who tragically collapsed during a training session on the morning of Monday, August 11, 2025.
Coach Olowokere, a respected figure in Nigerian football and former player with Sunshine Stars of Akure, was actively participating in the Oluyole Warriors’ pre-season training when he slumped on the pitch. Despite swift medical attention and immediate transport to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident occurred at the team’s training ground in Ibadan, where players and staff were left visibly shaken. Training was halted immediately, and the club is currently providing support to all affected personnel.
Coach Olowokere had only recently joined the Shooting Stars technical crew following the departure of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led team. Known for his humility, tactical acumen, and dedication to the sport, he previously served as assistant coach under Edith Agoye at Sunshine Stars, where he also enjoyed a distinguished playing career.
