The Lagos State Police Command has formally arraigned Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, at the Ogba Magistrate Court on an eleven-count charge including murder, unlawful possession of firearms, and felony.
Akinwande, 44, described as one of the most notorious hired assassins in Lagos State’s recent history, was apprehended following a covert tactical operation codenamed “Silence, Speed and Surprise”. The operation, led by the Command’s Tactical Squad, tracked the suspect to his hideout in the Agbado area of Ogun State.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect is linked to a series of violent crimes spanning over a decade, including the murder of Bankole Yusuf and Ramadan Yusuf on July 31, 2024, in Mushin, and the killing of 10-year-old Aminat Lateef in 2010.
The arraignment marks a significant milestone in the Command’s ongoing efforts to dismantle organized criminal networks and restore safety to communities affected by gang violence.
Statement from the Commissioner of Police: “The arrest and arraignment of this suspect sends a strong message to criminal elements operating in Lagos. We remain committed to protecting lives and property, and we will continue to pursue justice with precision and resolve.”
