The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association has formally appealed to the Oyo State Government for urgent dialogue following what it describes as the indiscriminate arrests of its members and their cattle across various parts of the state.
At a press conference held in Akinyele, the association’s Oyo State Chapter, led by Alhaji Sanni Muhammed, expressed deep concern over the frequent raids on cattle ranches and alleged harassment by individuals claiming to be state agents. These actions, they say, have severely threatened the livelihoods of Fulani herders and created a climate of fear and tension within their communities.
“We are men and women of peace,” said Muhammed. “We conduct our trade in Oyo and consider ourselves citizens of this state. Our cattle ranches are being raided, and our members are subjected to daily cash demands under unclear circumstances. We believe no group of citizens should endure discrimination, injustice, or jungle justice.”
The group emphasized its respect for the authority of the Oyo State Government and acknowledged its right to enact laws. However, it urged that such laws be implemented in a fair, transparent, and humane manner that does not jeopardize the economic survival of an entire community.
Miyetti Allah called on Governor Seyi Makinde to investigate the alleged illegal activities and review the enforcement of the anti-cattle rearing law to prevent targeted discrimination. The association reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence and its willingness to cooperate with the government to find sustainable solutions.
“We pledge to remain lawful, cooperative, and loyal to your administration,” the statement read. “We trust that in your wisdom and compassion, you will give urgent attention to this clarion call before the situation escalates.”
