Chief Olabode George, a founding member and respected elder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a strong statement condemning the recent actions of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing them as deliberate attempts to destabilize the party’s internal structure and democratic processes.

Speaking during a televised interview, Chief George expressed deep concern over Wike’s conduct, which he characterized as “reckless, anti-party, and injurious to the PDP’s future.” He cited the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja by the Wike-led FCTA as a “sacrilegious and culturally inadmissible” act that undermines the party’s legacy and unity.

“Wike seems like a loose cannon, working hand-in-hand with the APC to destroy the very party that gave him political life,” George stated emphatically.

He further criticized Wike’s alleged support for the controversial reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, despite constitutional irregularities surrounding his return after contesting the Imo governorship election. George warned that such actions erode the credibility of the PDP and violate its internal zoning and disciplinary frameworks.

The PDP stalwart also lamented the party’s inability to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for an extended period, attributing the delay to internal disputes and procedural lapses. However, he expressed optimism that the upcoming NEC meeting scheduled for July 23rd would serve as a turning point for the party’s renewal and accountability.

“No one is bigger than the PDP. If you’re tired of the party, leave. But don’t destroy it from within,” George urged.

As the PDP prepares for the 2027 elections, Chief George called on party leaders and members to recommit to the principles of equity, discipline, and internal democracy. He emphasized the need for a united front and warned against impunity and personal ambition that threaten the party’s survival.
