The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Hauwa Musa for her alleged involvement in a shocking case of child abduction and double homicide. The suspect is accused of kidnapping a newborn baby and gruesomely killing two young girls in what authorities have described as a deeply disturbing crime.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect, a 35-year-old resident of the Dutsen Tanshi area of Bauchi metropolis, allegedly lured the children—aged 4 and 6—into her residence under the guise of sending them on an errand. The two girls, whose identities are being withheld for privacy, were later found dead with signs indicating they may have been suffocated.

The third child, a 3-week-old infant, was abducted from a neighbor’s home shortly after the tragic killings. A swift and coordinated effort by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) led to the rescue of the newborn and the arrest of the suspect within 24 hours of the report.

Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, addressed the press at the Command Headquarters, confirming the incident and lauding the prompt response of the officers involved. “This is a heartbreaking case that has shaken the community. We assure the public that justice will be served. The suspect is in custody and will face the full weight of the law,” he said.

He also commended members of the public who provided useful information that aided in the suspect’s apprehension. “We call on the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all residents, especially children.”

The motive behind the heinous act is still under investigation, though initial reports suggest a possible personal vendetta or psychological instability. Police say further psychiatric evaluation of the suspect will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

The remains of the two young victims have been deposited at the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital for autopsy, while the rescued newborn has been reunited with her family and is undergoing medical observation.

The Bauchi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and warned that any attempt to harm children will be met with the strongest legal response.
