The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced that its highly anticipated National Convention will take place in November 2025, marking a crucial moment in the party’s renewed push for internal cohesion, strategic repositioning, and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached following a meeting of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. The convention, according to party officials, will be “all-encompassing” and will address leadership transitions, constitutional amendments, and party unity, among other vital issues.

In a statement released by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party emphasized that the convention will reflect the “will of the people” and be a “turning point for national rebirth.”

“This convention will set a new course for our great party,” Ologunagba stated. “It is an opportunity for the PDP to renew its vision, reorganize its structure, and reconnect with the Nigerian people ahead of the next political cycle.”

The PDP has faced a series of internal challenges in recent months, including leadership disputes and defections. However, party leaders say the November convention is a bold step toward reconciliation and reinvigoration.

Preparatory committees will be inaugurated in the coming weeks to oversee logistics, security, accreditation, and compliance with the party’s guidelines.
