The United States has approved a $3.5 billion foreign military sale to Saudi Arabia, a move that comes just days before President Donald Trump embarks on his official visit to the Middle East.

The deal, which includes 1,000 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and related support, was formally reported to Congress by the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency. While the State Department has cleared the sale, this notification does not confirm the finalization of a contract or the conclusion of negotiations.

The primary contractor for the missile sale is RTX Corp, a leading defense manufacturer. The agreement underscores the strategic partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the realm of defense cooperation and regional security.

President Trump is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates from May 13 to 16, marking his first foreign trip of his second term[ His visit is expected to focus on strengthening political and economic ties with Gulf nations, reinforcing the regional stability.
