Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has firmly denied receiving any legal correspondence from the legal team of Senate President Godswill Akpabio regarding her recent public statements alleging sexual harassment. The senator also rejected calls demanding a retraction of her comments, asserting her commitment to transparency and accountability in public office.

In a statement released through her media office today, Senator Natasha described reports of a formal demand from Akpabio’s lawyer as “baseless and misleading,” stating unequivocally that neither she nor her office has been served any legal notice or request for retraction.

“There has been no formal letter, legal or otherwise, served to me concerning any alleged defamation or demand for retraction,” Senator Natasha stated. “What I said was in the public interest, and I stand by my words. I will not be intimidated into silence.”

The controversy began following Senator Natasha’s recent comments during a televised interview, where she made allegations of inappropriate behavior by a senior government official, later confirmed to be Senate President Akpabio. The comments have sparked nationwide debate and drawn attention to the issue of gender-based misconduct in Nigerian politics.

Senator Natasha reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for women's rights and holding public officials accountable, urging the media and public to resist distractions and instead focus on the core issues of dignity, justice, and ethical leadership.

“I will continue to speak out against abuse of power and gender-based harassment, regardless of whose toes it steps on. Our democracy cannot thrive where intimidation silences truth,” she said.
