The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong condemnation of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing it of widespread misrule, entrenched corruption, and a systematic threat to Nigeria’s democracy. This was disclosed during the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
In a communique issued at the conclusion of the meeting, the NEC stated that the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government has failed Nigerians on all fronts—economically, politically, and in terms of national security. According to the PDP leadership, the Nigerian people are now bearing the brunt of what they described as “rudderless leadership, anti-people policies, and brazen looting of public resources.”
“The NEC notes with grave concern the rising cost of living, a collapsed currency, record levels of unemployment, and a deliberate effort to stifle opposition voices. The administration’s handling of the economy has plunged millions into poverty, while reports of unchecked corruption within the government continue to surface without any meaningful action or accountability,” the statement read.
The PDP also warned that Nigeria’s democracy is under severe threat, citing alleged attacks on judicial independence, media freedom, and attempts to suppress dissent through intimidation and the misuse of state security agencies.
During the meeting, the NEC reaffirmed the party’s commitment to leading the charge for a return to transparency, good governance, and the rule of law. It called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and to join efforts to reclaim the country from what it described as “the stranglehold of an inept and dictatorial regime.”
