The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to music executive Ezekiel ThankGod, popularly known as EeZeeTee, in the sum of ₦20 million following his arraignment on charges of alleged forex fraud amounting to $397,106.
EeZeeTee, the former manager of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and founder of EeZee Global Conceptz, was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 15-count amended charge bordering on money laundering and fraudulent conversion of earnings generated through Chinwo’s music royalties and other commercial engagements.
The EFCC alleges that between 2019 and 2023, EeZeeTee diverted proceeds from Chinwo’s online streaming platforms, performance fees, and endorsements without proper remittance. The funds, totaling approximately $397,106, were allegedly retained in various company and personal accounts contrary to prior contractual agreements.
Justice Alexander Owoeye, presiding over the case, granted the accused bail under strict conditions, including the submission of travel documents and provision of two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a property owner within Lagos State.
The matter stems from a public dispute between Mercy Chinwo and her former manager, in which Chinwo accused him of contract manipulation, financial withholding, and breach of trust. In a previous petition to the EFCC, Chinwo claimed she was presented with an altered version of her original contract and was denied rightful earnings from her work over a sustained period.
