A tragic helicopter crash has claimed the lives of six Sri Lankan military personnel during a training exercise for a passing-out parade. The incident occurred when a Bell 212 helicopter carrying 12 members of the armed forces plunged into the Maduru Oya reservoir, located in central Sri Lanka.
According to Air Force spokesman Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, the aircraft was conducting a grappling exercise as part of the military parade preparations when the accident took place. Among the deceased are four special forces personnel and two Air Force gunmen, who succumbed to their injuries.
Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, recovering all passengers and transporting them to the hospital. Unfortunately, six individuals later died due to their injuries.
