The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to May 21, 2025, following the ongoing cross-examination of prosecution witnesses.
At today’s hearing, the courtroom witnessed intensive cross-examination as Kanu’s legal team rigorously challenged the testimony of one of the key prosecution witnesses. The session, which lasted several hours, focused on the authenticity and legality of certain pieces of evidence presented by the prosecution.
Presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako, ruled for adjournment to allow both parties to prepare for the continuation of cross-examinations and presentation of further evidence. The court emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair and transparent judicial process in line with constitutional rights.
Kanu, who faces charges including terrorism, treasonable felony, and incitement, has continued to plead not guilty. His legal counsel has maintained that the charges are politically motivated and lack credible substance.
