Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has issued a scathing assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, declaring that the government has “failed on all fronts” less than two years into its tenure.
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Sowore criticized what he described as a worsening state of governance, rising insecurity, deepening poverty, and policy failures that have eroded public trust and intensified hardship for millions of Nigerians.
“From the economy to security, education to healthcare, there is no area where this administration has demonstrated competence, empathy, or direction,” Sowore said. “What Nigerians are experiencing today is the product of elite misrule, and Tinubu’s government has taken it to an abysmal level.”
He pointed to the removal of fuel subsidies without adequate cushioning measures, naira devaluation, spiraling inflation, and continued insecurity in various regions as key indicators of systemic failure.
Sowore also criticized the administration’s response to public protests, rising unemployment, and alleged corruption, stating that the government has shown more interest in consolidating power than addressing the real needs of the people.
“This is not governance; it is organized failure,” he added. “Nigerians deserve leadership that is transparent, accountable, and people-centered. That is why we will continue to organize, mobilize, and speak out.”
