Nigerian industrialist and businesswoman Shade Okoya has opened up about her marriage to billionaire industrialist Razak Okoya, addressing public perceptions surrounding their age difference. In a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, Shade Okoya reaffirmed her happiness in her marriage, stating that despite the significant age gap, she has no regrets and has never felt deprived of any life experiences.
Shade Okoya, who married Razak Okoya in 1999 at the age of 21, emphasized that her decision to marry an older man has been fulfilling. "I am happy in my marriage. He is far older than me, but I don’t think I miss out on anything because I didn’t marry a young man," she said.
She also shared insights into her family's reaction to her marriage, revealing that while her father had passed away before the union, her mother and grandmother fully supported her decision. Shade Okoya described her husband as generous and protective, stating, "He defends me anywhere. My husband has been very generous with me. God said this is where I will be.”
Beyond her personal happiness, Shade Okoya highlighted the expectations set before their wedding, noting that Razak Okoya made it clear that she would work and not just be a housewife. Despite having domestic staff, she remains actively involved in taking care of her husband.
