The recently appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ibas (rtd), today made his first official appearance at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held at the State House, Abuja. His attendance marks a significant step in integrating the new state leadership into national governance efforts under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Rear Admiral Ibas was appointed by President Tinubu following the dissolution of the previous state executive council, as part of broader efforts to stabilize governance and ensure effective administration in Rivers State. His participation in the NEC meeting signals the Federal Government's commitment to inclusive national development and the importance of ensuring that all states are adequately represented in key economic discussions.

The meeting, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, focused on pressing national economic issues including revenue generation, fiscal federalism, and security-related challenges affecting development. Rear Admiral Ibas reportedly contributed to discussions on improving infrastructure and security in the Niger Delta, emphasizing the need for collaborative federal-state partnerships.

Speaking after the meeting, Ibas expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to working with both federal and local stakeholders to ensure peace, stability, and economic growth in Rivers State.

“I am honored to represent the people of Rivers State at this critical juncture,” said Ibas. “Our state remains a strategic economic hub for Nigeria, and I will work tirelessly to ensure our interests are safeguarded at the national level.”
