Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the representative for Kogi Central Senatorial District, has announced that she will proceed with her scheduled visit to the people of her constituency on Tuesday, April 2, 2025, despite the recent ban imposed by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had initially planned a visit to her constituents as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, stated that her visit would be in keeping with her commitment to her people and her unwavering belief in the importance of unity and community engagement. The senator expressed concern over the recent ban, which she regards as an attempt to stifle her right to interact and support the people she represents.
"I am determined to proceed with my visit to Kogi Central on Tuesday. The people of Kogi Central deserve to see their elected representative, especially during such an important religious celebration. The Eid visit is not only a tradition of goodwill but also a symbol of solidarity with the citizens I serve. This visit is not about politics, it is about upholding my duty to the people who voted for me and ensuring that they know their voices are heard," Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan remarked.
The Governor's ban, which restricts certain movements and visits during the festive period, has been a point of contention for local leaders and political figures. Many see it as a direct attempt to limit the presence of opposition figures in the state. In defiance of this order, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is standing firm on her decision, asserting that no administrative directive should prevent the fulfillment of her obligations to her constituents.
"The people of Kogi deserve to feel the presence of their leaders, regardless of political affiliations. I will continue to act in their best interests, and my visit on Tuesday will serve as a reminder of my dedication to their well-being. Eid-el-Fitr is a time for celebration, peace, and unity, and I intend to bring that spirit to my people," she added.
