The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) who were abducted during a distressing attack on their off-campus residence. The rescue operation, which involved a gunfight with the kidnappers, underscores the unwavering commitment of the police to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
The incident occurred on the evening of March 30, 2025, when armed assailants stormed a student lodge behind Nasara Estate, Tudun Kauri, Lafia, and abducted two students, Sadiq Adinoyi and Sakina Adinoyi. Acting swiftly on a directive from Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and 'A' Division, Lafia, were mobilized to track down the perpetrators.
Following technical intelligence, the rescue team located the victims in a forest behind the 500 Housing Unit along Doma Road. During the operation, the police engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel. Overwhelmed by the police's firepower, the kidnappers fled in different directions, abandoning the victims, who were safely rescued.
One suspect, identified as Ibrahim Musa from Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene. The suspect has made a useful confession and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed commended the bravery and relentless efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and all officers involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime head-on and urged officers to remain steadfast in their mission to rid the state of criminal activities.
