One Person Confirmed Dead, 12 Others Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the tragic collapse of a three-storey building located at No. 10, Oremeta Street, Ojodu, Lagos. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 AM, resulting in the loss of one life and the rescue of twelve individuals from the debris.




Emergency response teams, including personnel from LASEMA, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, and other agencies, swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. Among the rescued were workers and customers of a restaurant housed within the building, as well as members of a family residing there. One of the rescued individuals received immediate medical attention from LASEMA’s Pre-Hospital Care Unit and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.




The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, and authorities are working diligently to determine the factors that led to this unfortunate event. Residents of Oremeta Street have been urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as the investigation continues.




The Lagos State Government extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and assures the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
