In a tragic incident earlier today, a three-storey building located in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State collapsed, trapping an unknown number of individuals. As of now, nine male victims have been successfully rescued from the rubble and are receiving medical attention for varying degrees of injuries.

The building, which housed an eatery on the ground floor, had been unoccupied on its upper levels for an extended period. Rescue operations, led by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), are ongoing as first responders work tirelessly to ensure no one remains trapped.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the rescue efforts and emphasized the importance of maintaining the structural integrity of buildings. "Unoccupied buildings are often prone to collapse due to a loss of integrity over time. We urge property owners to prioritize safety and regular inspections," she stated.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, and authorities are conducting investigations to uncover the factors that led to this unfortunate event.
