The Ondo State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Prince OgoOluwa Omoge, grandson of the late music icon Comfort Omoge. The incident, which occurred on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has left the community in shock and mourning.
According to reports, Prince OgoOluwa was allegedly killed by a scavenger along the Ayeka/Igbokoda Expressway in Okitipupa Local Government Area. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure for further investigation.
Speaking on the matter, the Ondo State Police Command spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, assured the public that justice will prevail. "The suspect is in our custody, and we are committed to unraveling the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The law will take its course," Ayanlade stated.
In response to the incident, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area, Mr. Andrew Ogunsakin, has engaged local leaders, representatives of the Hausa/Fulani community, traditional rulers, and youth groups to foster peaceful coexistence and prevent further tensions. Mr. Ogunsakin commended the swift action of the police and reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the area.
