The Kano State Government has successfully recovered ₦27,824,395.40 that was erroneously paid to 247 individuals who had either retired or passed away but remained on the payroll system.
The irregularity was uncovered during a validation exercise conducted by the newly established Pay Parade Committee, which was tasked with reviewing salary administration across the state’s Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and Local Government Councils.
Governor Abba Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that the government will take decisive action against those responsible for the fraudulent payments. The recovered funds have been returned to the Local Government Treasury, and further investigations are underway to identify and prosecute those involved.
