The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has called on communities in Plateau State to refrain from ethnic profiling of criminal elements amidst the recent wave of deadly attacks in the region. During his visit to Bassa Local Government Area, where over 50 lives were tragically lost in an attack on Zikke community, the IGP condemned the violence and emphasized the importance of addressing criminality without attributing it to specific ethnic groups.

Speaking to residents, IGP Egbetokun stated, "Criminals must be dealt with as criminals. They don’t have tribes. Let us work together to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice—not based on ethnicity, but on their actions." He warned that ethnic profiling risks further inflaming tensions in the already volatile area and urged communities to unite in the fight against criminal activities.

The IGP assured the public that swift justice would be served to the perpetrators, stating, "This criminal element will soon be surprised. Their days are numbered." He also highlighted the increased presence of security forces in the affected communities to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang echoed the IGP's sentiments, vowing that those behind the bloodshed would face justice. "To the killers and their sponsors, know this: your evil shall not go unpunished. Plateau will not fall. Plateau will stand tall," the governor declared.
