Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a prominent political figure and representative of Kogi Central, has issued a strong statement holding the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, accountable for any potential violence or unrest that may arise from her upcoming homecoming rally in the state.
Senator Natasha, a vocal advocate for peace, unity, and good governance, has expressed concerns over the rising tension ahead of her highly anticipated rally, scheduled to take place in Kogi State. In a press conference today, she stated that her event was organized as a peaceful demonstration of support and solidarity for the people of Kogi, but warned that any disturbance during the rally should be directly attributed to the actions or inactions of Akpabio and Bello, both of whom she accused of orchestrating the current climate of fear and insecurity in the state.
"I am deeply committed to the well-being of our people, and my rally is intended to be a peaceful gathering that upholds the ideals of democracy and justice. However, if any violence occurs during this event, I hold Godswill Akpabio and Governor Yahaya Bello responsible. They have consistently fostered a hostile environment, undermining peaceful processes and resorting to violence for political gain," Senator Natasha stated.
She went on to highlight various instances where the political leadership in Kogi has been accused of stoking violence in a bid to suppress opposition voices and maintain power. Senator Natasha emphasized that the people of Kogi deserve an environment where their rights are protected, and peaceful demonstrations are allowed to flourish without fear of intimidation or retaliation.
The senator called for calm, urging her supporters to remain peaceful and resolute in their commitment to democracy. "I urge my supporters to maintain the highest standards of decorum and unity. This rally is for the people, and no amount of violence or oppression will stop us from achieving our collective goals for a better, more prosperous Kogi State," she affirmed.
Senator Natasha also expressed confidence that the people of Kogi will stand strong in the face of adversity and continue to push for a more inclusive, accountable government. She reiterated that her mission was to advocate for the interests of the people of Kogi Central and the broader Kogi State, focusing on development, security, and the restoration of justice.
