In a significant political development, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna State. This visit occurred just hours after a delegation of opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, also met with the former president.

The APC delegation’s visit, which follows closely on the heels of a similar meeting by APC governors earlier in the week, underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with its founding members. While the details of the discussions remain undisclosed, the visit is seen as a strategic move to reaffirm party unity amidst growing political speculation.

Speaking after the meeting, Ganduje emphasized the APC’s resilience and dominance in the political landscape, dismissing concerns over potential opposition coalitions. “We are confident in our strength as a party and remain focused on our mission to deliver progress and development to Nigerians,” he stated.

The earlier visit by opposition leaders, led by Atiku Abubakar, was described as a post-Sallah homage. However, it has sparked intrigue within political circles, with some interpreting it as a precursor to potential realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. Former President Buhari, a key figure in the APC’s formation, has reiterated his loyalty to the party, dispelling rumors of any defection.
