President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Mr. Adebayo Ogunjimi as the new Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), following his approval and subsequent ratification by the Federal Executive Council. The appointment takes immediate effect.
Mr. Ogunjimi, a seasoned financial management expert, brings a wealth of experience in both the public and private sectors. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of government financial systems. His appointment is expected to strengthen the country’s financial oversight and boost fiscal discipline within Nigeria’s public service.
In his new role, Ogunjimi will be tasked with overseeing the accounting and financial management functions of the Federation, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and accountability in the management of public funds. He will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining the national financial accounts and working closely with other government agencies to drive reforms that promote financial integrity and improve Nigeria’s public sector financial management framework.
President Tinubu, in his statement, expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to lead the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, stressing that his experience and expertise will be critical in advancing the administration’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient management of national resources.

Mr. Ogunjimi holds a degree in Accounting and has accumulated over two decades of experience in both public and private sector financial management.
