Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the sexual harassment allegations leveled by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senator Godswill Akpabio. Saraki, who has consistently advocated for the protection of women's rights and the promotion of a fair and just legal system, emphasized the need for an unbiased and thorough inquiry into the serious accusations.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a prominent member of the Nigerian Senate, recently made public allegations of sexual harassment against Senator Akpabio, the current Minister of Niger Delta Affairs. The allegations, which have drawn widespread attention, have ignited a national conversation about the treatment of women in the political sphere and the need for greater accountability in positions of power.

In a statement released earlier today, Saraki expressed his concerns about the potential ramifications of such allegations on the integrity of the Senate and the wider Nigerian political landscape. He urged that the investigation be conducted with the utmost transparency, ensuring that all parties involved are afforded due process and that justice is served.

"The safety, dignity, and rights of women must remain paramount in our society, particularly in political environments where power dynamics often leave women vulnerable to abuse. Senator Natasha's courageous decision to speak out must be met with a commitment to justice, fairness, and due process," Saraki said.

The former Senate President also called on relevant authorities, including the National Assembly and the Nigerian Police, to take swift action to ensure that the investigation is carried out without interference, bias, or delay. He highlighted the importance of fostering an environment where all citizens, particularly women, feel empowered to speak up against any form of harassment or abuse.

Saraki concluded his statement by reiterating the need for a systemic overhaul to create safer and more inclusive spaces for women in Nigerian politics, urging lawmakers and political leaders to champion the cause of gender equality.
