In a significant political shift, former Lagos State governorship candidate under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This move marks a pivotal moment in the state's political landscape, as the seasoned politician brings his influence and support base to the ruling party.

Dr. Adediran made the announcement earlier today during a press conference, stating that his decision to join the APC was based on the party's commitment to fostering unity, progress, and development in Lagos State and Nigeria at large. He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the APC, Lagos can achieve even greater heights in terms of infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare.

"I am joining the APC because I believe in the vision of a greater Lagos and a stronger Nigeria. It is time for me to contribute my quota to the development of our great state, and I am confident that APC will provide the platform for me to achieve that goal," Dr. Adediran said.

Jandor’s defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP, particularly in Lagos State, where the party had hoped to strengthen its influence after the 2023 elections. His decision comes amid ongoing discussions about the future of political dynamics in the state as APC solidifies its dominance.

Reacting to the development, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Tunde Balogun, welcomed Dr. Adediran with open arms, calling his entry into the party a "welcome addition" to the APC family. "We are thrilled to have Dr. Jandor join our ranks. His experience, leadership, and vision will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of Lagos State. Together, we will work towards a better, more prosperous future for all Lagosians," Balogun said.
