The Anti-Corruption Coalition (ACC) has called for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged N70 billion fraud within the administration of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed. The coalition has formally urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to take immediate action and thoroughly probe the governor’s administration over the misuse of public funds.

The ACC, a group committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption across Nigeria, expressed grave concern over the allegations, which have emerged from various credible sources. These allegations suggest that public funds allocated for critical state projects and development initiatives were diverted to private accounts for personal gain.

The coalition has emphasized that such a monumental financial discrepancy, if proven, would not only be a direct violation of trust placed in the governor but would also undermine efforts to promote good governance in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large. According to the group, the potential scale of this fraud could have dire consequences for the state's economy, development programs, and its most vulnerable citizens.

“The alleged diversion of N70 billion is deeply troubling and highlights the urgent need for the EFCC to act swiftly and decisively to investigate and prosecute any wrongdoers,” said the coalition's spokesperson, Dr. Sarah Adewale. “Public resources must be protected, and officials who abuse their power for personal enrichment must be held accountable.”

The ACC further stressed the importance of ensuring that the investigation is conducted impartially and transparently, without political influence or interference. The coalition also urged Governor Mohammed to fully cooperate with the EFCC and assist in the investigation, as transparency is crucial to restoring public trust in the state’s governance.

The Anti-Corruption Coalition has vowed to continue advocating for justice and transparency in government, calling on all concerned citizens and stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any further instances of corruption.

“We will not relent in our fight against corruption,” Dr. Adewale concluded. “Every Nigerian deserves a government that works for them, not for corrupt individuals seeking to line their pockets at the expense of the public.”
