The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha'u Ahmed, has announced that the monthly allowance for corps members will increase to ₦77,000 starting in March 2025. This new allowance is part of the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of corps members and ensuring their well-being during their service year.

In a statement released earlier today, the NYSC DG emphasized that the increase in the allowance reflects the government's recognition of the valuable contributions corps members make to national development. The new allowance will be paid to all corps members across the country and will be effective starting from this month.

“The welfare of our corps members has always been a top priority, and this allowance increase is a clear indication of the government's support for the youth who dedicate their time and skills to nation-building,” said Brigadier General Yusha'u Ahmed.

The new allowance comes in line with the government’s broader strategy to improve the conditions of service for all categories of public sector employees. Corps members who are currently serving, as well as those who are about to begin their service year, will benefit from this adjustment.

The NYSC DG also assured corps members that measures have been put in place to ensure the timely disbursement of the increased allowance across the country.

“We understand the challenges that some of our corps members face, especially those posted to rural areas. With this increase, we hope to ease their living conditions and support them as they carry out their community development programs, educational initiatives, and other service-related responsibilities,” he added.
