The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of the results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates. A total of 2,577 candidates’ results have been withheld pending further investigation into cases of alleged examination malpractice.
The examination, which was conducted across various centers in the country, recorded a significant turnout of private candidates seeking to sit for the WASSCE. WAEC's rigorous examination procedures and security measures helped to ensure the integrity of the examination process. However, the Council stated that a small number of candidates were found to be in violation of its policies, leading to the withholding of their results.
According to a statement released by the Council’s Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Patrick Odi, the withheld results will undergo a thorough review to ascertain the extent of any infractions. Candidates whose results have been withheld are advised to stay updated on the status of their cases and to cooperate with WAEC’s investigation. The Council emphasized that it remains committed to maintaining the credibility and integrity of its examinations.
“We take the issue of examination malpractice very seriously and are dedicated to ensuring that all our processes are fair, transparent, and in the best interest of all candidates,” Mr. Odi stated.
WAEC has urged candidates to check their results online through the official WAEC website or via the WAEC mobile app. Candidates whose results are available can access them by entering their valid examination details.
