Renowned Nigerian gospel artist and preacher, Nathaniel Bassey, has issued a heartfelt caution against what he describes as an "unholy obsession" with judging others' faith based on their knowledge of individuals or personal opinions. In his latest remarks, Bassey clarified that "not knowing me does not make you less Christian," emphasizing the importance of focusing on one’s personal relationship with God rather than external perceptions.
Bassey, known for his soul-stirring music and impactful ministry, took to social media to address concerns and criticisms that arise when people believe their understanding of others defines their spiritual standing. He warned against the dangers of idolizing human opinions and celebrity culture, instead urging followers to center their faith on Christ and His teachings.
In his message, Bassey cautioned Christians not to fall into the trap of judging others’ worth or spiritual maturity based on superficial factors, such as knowledge of a person’s identity. He encouraged the faithful to avoid the “unholy obsession” with worldly definitions of Christianity, instead striving for deeper connections with God.
"Faith is not about knowing or being known by man but being rooted in the love of Christ and living according to His truth," Bassey said. "Let us shift our focus from external perceptions and trust in God’s guidance."
