The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Hon. Kingsley Esiso, has responded strongly to Senator Ned Nwoko's recent defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing it as "laughable and inconsequential."
Senator Nwoko, a former PDP member, officially joined the APC in a ceremony that has generated widespread attention. However, Hon. Esiso believes that Nwoko’s departure from the party will not have any significant impact on the PDP's strength or political influence in Delta State.
In a statement released earlier today, Hon. Esiso criticized Nwoko for his political opportunism, claiming that the senator's decision was primarily driven by personal ambition and a desire for power, rather than genuine political ideology. He pointed out that the PDP remains the dominant party in the state, with a strong, unified base that will continue to stand in opposition to any forces seeking to undermine the party’s successes.
"The defection of Senator Ned Nwoko is neither a loss nor a blow to the PDP in Delta State," Hon. Esiso said. "Rather, it is a mere diversion in the political landscape. Nwoko’s defection to the APC is laughable, as it reflects a lack of consistent principle and loyalty to the people of Delta State, who have overwhelmingly supported the PDP."
He further emphasized that the PDP remains the party of choice for the people of Delta State, and the party’s commitment to good governance and development will not be swayed by individual political maneuvers. He reassured members and supporters of the PDP that the party will continue to build on its legacy of progress and inclusivity.
"Senator Nwoko’s defection is inconsequential to the forward march of the PDP in Delta State. Our party is stronger than ever, and we are united in our resolve to ensure that Delta continues to thrive under the leadership of the PDP," he added.
