In a dramatic turn of events, the Niger State Police Command successfully intervened to rescue two suspected robbers from a violent mob intent on lynching them following an alleged highway robbery incident. The suspects were apprehended after reportedly attacking travelers on the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

The incident unfolded on the evening of January 1, when the suspects, identified as John Doe and Richard Roe, allegedly ambushed motorists, stealing valuables and causing chaos. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspects were quickly apprehended by local vigilantes, who sought to administer their own form of justice.

“Thanks to the swift response of our officers, we were able to prevent a tragic outcome,” said Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Niger State. “We urge the public to allow the law to take its course and refrain from taking justice into their own hands.”

The police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of the mob gathering around the suspects. Officers managed to extract them safely and transported them to a secure location for further questioning and processing.
