The Honorable Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of the recent tragic fire incidents at the Ibadan Funfair and the nearby market. The devastating events, which took place earlier this week, have left many families in mourning and several businesses destroyed.

In a statement issued today, the Minister conveyed heartfelt solidarity with the affected families and communities, emphasizing the government's commitment to providing support and assistance during this difficult time. "The heartbreaking events at the Ibadan Funfair and the adjoining market remind us of the fragility of life and the importance of safety measures. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted by these fires. We stand with you," the Minister stated.

Reports indicate that the fire at the Ibadan Funfair resulted in several casualties, with numerous attendees and vendors suffering significant losses. Simultaneously, a fire engulfed a local market in the area, further exacerbating the devastation. Both incidents have left residents and business owners in a state of shock and distress.

The Power Minister, who oversees critical energy infrastructure, assured the public that investigations into the causes of the fires are underway. “We must understand the root causes of these tragedies to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the Minister noted. “The government, in collaboration with local authorities, will continue to ensure the safety of citizens and take necessary measures to mitigate the risks of such occurrences.”

In addition to the official condolences, the Minister confirmed that the government will provide relief efforts to assist the victims, including medical aid, financial compensation, and rebuilding support for those who lost their livelihoods.

The Ministry of Power has pledged to work closely with local and national safety bodies to ensure stricter regulations and improved fire safety measures in all public and market spaces.
