The Nigerian military has announced a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism with the discovery of multiple camps belonging to a newly emerged terrorist group, Lakurawa, in the northern states of Katsina and Zamfara.

In a coordinated operation led by the Nigerian Army, troops were able to infiltrate and locate the hideouts of the extremist group, which had been suspected of launching violent attacks on local communities, kidnapping civilians, and destabilizing the region. Intelligence reports had earlier indicated the presence of the group in the area, and the recent military operations resulted in the uncovering of their fortified camps.

The group, identified as Lakurawa, is believed to have been operating under the radar until now, exploiting the security challenges in the region to recruit fighters, plan attacks, and disrupt the peace. The discovery of these camps represents a significant step forward in dismantling the group's operations and restoring stability to the affected areas.

"The uncovering of the Lakurawa camps in Katsina and Zamfara is a direct result of our enhanced intelligence gathering and commitment to the protection of our citizens," said Major General Usman Aliyu, spokesperson for the Nigerian Army. "We are determined to root out all terrorist groups and ensure that peace and security are restored to our communities."

In the course of the operation, Nigerian troops were able to seize large quantities of weapons, explosives, and communication equipment, which will aid in further investigations. Several members of the group were apprehended and are currently undergoing interrogation. Additionally, military sources confirm that a number of terrorists were neutralized during the operation.
