Former Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has strongly condemned the tragic loss of lives following a recent military airstrike in the state, described as an "accidental" strike by the Nigerian Armed Forces. The incident, which occurred in a rural area of Sokoto, resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including women and children, sparking widespread outrage across the region.

Tambuwal expressed deep sorrow over the deaths and injuries caused by the bombing, calling it a "gross violation of the sanctity of human life." In a statement issued earlier today, the former governor emphasized the devastating impact of the attack on the families affected and the larger community. He further described the incident as a "grave error" that demands immediate accountability and justice for the victims.

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives in this senseless tragedy," said Tambuwal. "This airstrike, though labeled as accidental, has left a scar on our state and the hearts of those who have lost their loved ones. The government must take full responsibility and ensure that such a mistake is never repeated. The victims deserve justice, and their families deserve answers."

Tambuwal has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. He demanded that the Nigerian Military provide a detailed report on the airstrike, including an explanation of how such an error occurred and the steps being taken to prevent future tragedies.

Furthermore, Tambuwal has urged the federal government to immediately provide compensation and support to the families of the victims, as well as rehabilitation for those who have been injured or displaced. He also emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for the airstrike accountable, whether through military or judicial channels.

The former governor has also called on all stakeholders, including human rights organizations and international bodies, to lend their voices in the fight for justice and to ensure that this incident is not swept under the rug.
