In a bold move to address the growing challenge of malnutrition and improve the health of children across the state, the Kano State Government has allocated N670 million for targeted initiatives aimed at combating malnutrition and promoting better healthcare outcomes for children.

This significant investment will be directed toward improving access to essential nutrition, health services, and education on healthy practices, particularly in vulnerable communities where malnutrition rates have been alarmingly high. The funds will be utilized to implement community outreach programs, provide nutritional supplements, and strengthen maternal and child health services.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, during the announcement of this initiative, emphasized the importance of tackling malnutrition as a critical component of public health. “The health of our children is fundamental to the future of Kano and the entire nation. By investing in the fight against malnutrition, we are ensuring that our children grow up healthy, strong, and able to reach their full potential,” said Governor Ganduje.

The N670 million commitment will also support the expansion of nutrition rehabilitation centers, the training of healthcare professionals, and partnerships with local and international organizations to enhance the scope and impact of the program. The initiative aims to reduce malnutrition rates among children under five and improve overall childhood health indicators across the state.
