The Enugu State Government has expressed strong support for the arrest of Simon Ekpa, a prominent figure linked to violent separatist activities in the southeastern region of Nigeria. Ekpa, who was apprehended in Finland, is accused of inciting unrest and terrorizing civilians through his involvement in the "sit-at-home" orders and other violent campaigns aimed at destabilizing Nigeria.

The Enugu State Government lauds the Finnish authorities for their swift action in apprehending Ekpa, who has been linked to numerous criminal activities, including the loss of innocent lives, destruction of property, and the instigation of fear among the people of Enugu and other southeastern states.

A government spokesperson stated, "We are pleased that Simon Ekpa is finally facing justice. His actions have caused untold suffering to the people of Enugu and beyond. His continued incitement of violence has been a direct threat to the peace and security of our citizens."

The Enugu State Government also announced its willingness to assist in the ongoing legal proceedings by providing evidence of the atrocities committed by Ekpa and his associates. "We stand ready to provide the necessary documentation, testimonies, and other relevant materials that will support the case against Ekpa," the spokesperson added. "We are committed to ensuring that justice is served, and that those who have caused harm to our people are held accountable."

The Nigerian government has also expressed its gratitude to Finland for its cooperation in addressing issues related to the country's security. The Enugu State Government remains hopeful that the legal process will move forward expeditiously, ensuring that Ekpa's actions are fully investigated and that he faces the full consequences of his actions.
