Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to concentrate on the pressing issues of governance rather than engaging in early political calculations for the 2027 general elections. Atiku made this statement in response to ongoing political developments and discussions surrounding the next presidential race.

Atiku, who was a key contender in the 2023 presidential elections, emphasized the need for the current administration to prioritize addressing Nigeria's critical economic, security, and social challenges. According to the former Vice President, the country is facing numerous hurdles, including inflation, rising unemployment, insecurity, and infrastructure deficits, all of which demand immediate and sustained attention from the government.

“The Nigerian people need leadership that is focused on improving their lives, not on political scheming for the next election,” Atiku said. “President Tinubu should redirect his energies towards implementing policies that will create jobs, improve healthcare, and address the challenges of insecurity. The time for political maneuvering and permutations for 2027 is not now. The nation requires immediate action, not distraction.”

Atiku further urged President Tinubu to strengthen national unity and promote inclusive governance. He stressed the importance of setting aside partisan considerations in favor of working for the common good of all Nigerians, especially at a time when national cohesion is crucial to overcoming the country’s challenges.

The former Vice President reiterated his belief that the government should create a clear roadmap for tackling the country’s economic difficulties and prioritize transparent and accountable leadership. He warned that failure to do so would deepen the frustrations of Nigerians and undermine the confidence in the political system.

“Rather than looking ahead to 2027, the President should ensure that his policies are making a tangible difference in the lives of everyday Nigerians,” Atiku concluded.
