Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has made headlines once again following his recent arrest at the Seme border while attempting to flee Nigeria. The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed that Bobrisky was intercepted during routine checks and is currently undergoing interrogation related to ongoing investigations involving the House of Representatives and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky was apprehended late at night while allegedly trying to cross into the Benin Republic. Sources indicate that he attempted to evade immigration scrutiny by sending an associate to stamp his passport while he concealed himself in a vehicle. Upon discovery, immigration officials detained him, citing concerns over unspecified public matters linked to his activities.

Following his arrest, Bobrisky was transferred to the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) where he spent the night in a female cell. This development has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many expressing curiosity about the implications of his detention for LGBTQ+ rights in Nigeria. Bobrisky's controversial persona has often placed her at the center of public discourse surrounding gender identity and societal norms in the country.

The allegations against Bobrisky include bribery and influence-peddling, particularly concerning a leaked audio recording that purportedly implicates her in an N15 million bribe to EFCC officials. Although Bobrisky has denied the authenticity of the recording, her failure to appear before the House of Representatives for questioning has intensified scrutiny on her actions and motives.

Bobrisky's arrest comes at a time when discussions around LGBTQ+ rights are increasingly contentious in Nigeria, where same-sex relationships are criminalized under strict laws. As one of Africa's most prominent queer figures, her situation raises critical questions about the intersection of celebrity culture and legal accountability within a conservative society.
