In a remarkable act of generosity amid ongoing economic challenges, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has donated $10,000 for the reconstruction of a historic mosque in Damagaram, Niger Republic. This mosque, which has stood for over 200 years, recently collapsed and is a significant cultural and spiritual landmark for the local community.

The donation was delivered by the governor’s special adviser on political matters, Ya’u Umar Gwajo-gwajo. During a press briefing in Katsina, Gwajo-gwajo emphasized the importance of this gesture in strengthening the long-standing ties between Katsina State and Damagaram. He stated, “This mosque will contribute towards instilling Islamic moral discipline in our people and assist in addressing many social ills in our society.”

The Sultan of Damagaram, Abubakar Sanda-Umau, expressed his gratitude to Governor Radda for this timely support. He noted that the reconstruction efforts would not only restore a vital place of worship but also reinforce the bonds of friendship that have flourished between the two regions for over 500 years.

Governor Radda's commitment to the social and spiritual development of both Katsina and Niger Republic communities reflects his administration's dedication to fostering unity and cooperation across borders.

Gwajo-gwajo remarked, “We are one people separated by artificial borders; this is why we should strengthen bilateral relations between our people and address our challenges collectively.”

This donation comes at a time when many communities are grappling with economic hardship, underscoring the governor's resolve to prioritize humanitarian efforts that uplift and support neighboring regions.
