The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has resigned from office, following his intention to contest in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in April, for the Bayelsa State Governorship election.
The minister submitted his letter of resignation to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday after he declared his intent in the governorship race.
The Minister's Senior Adviser for Media and Communication, Horatius Egua said he could not deny or confirm the resignation because he had not seen the resignation letter or been officially informed of the resignation by the minister.
Timipre Sylva was the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State between 27 May 2008 – 27 January 2012. He governed the state for one term and still has constitutional rights to contest for another tenure.
