The Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged former members of the National Assembly from Northern Nigeria to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need to allow the administration to complete its reform agenda.

Speaking during a consultative meeting in Abuja on Saturday, Gbajabiamila appealed to the gathering of ex-lawmakers to sustain their support for the President, arguing that Tinubu deserves a second term to consolidate on the policies and programmes he has initiated since assuming office in 2023.

“President Tinubu came in at a time of enormous economic and security challenges, and has laid critical foundations for growth and stability,” Gbajabiamila stated. “It is only fair that Nigerians, especially you who understand the workings of governance, give him the opportunity to finish what he started.”

The former Speaker highlighted ongoing reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, education, and security, which he said are beginning to yield results but require continuity to reach their full potential.

Gbajabiamila further noted that former lawmakers remain influential voices within their constituencies and urged them to help build bridges of understanding between the people and the government ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“Your experience and networks are invaluable to our party and to this administration,” he stressed. “We cannot afford to break the momentum we have built.”

In their responses, several of the former legislators commended President Tinubu for what they described as “courageous reforms” but also raised concerns about issues of insecurity, youth unemployment, and the high cost of living. They pledged to relay these concerns to the President while assuring Gbajabiamila of their continued engagement.
