Senator Ireti Kingibe (ADC, FCT) has publicly accused Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike of gross abuse of office, citing documented evidence of irregular land allocations and financial waivers benefiting the minister’s son, Joaquin Wike.

In a televised interview on Arise TV, Senator Kingibe revealed that Minister Wike allegedly allocated acres of prime Abuja land to his 23-year-old son and slashed the statutory payment from ₦200 million to a mere ₦2 million within 48 hours. “I have the documents,” Kingibe stated. “This is not just unethical—it is illegal and unfair to the Nigerian people.”

The senator, a trained civil engineer, emphasized her commitment to facts and accountability, asserting that she would present the evidence to the FCT Assembly and demand action. “If I cannot speak, then I might as well resign my seat,” she declared.

Kingibe also criticized Wike’s refusal to account for Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and his alleged disregard for constitutional oversight. “The President goes to the National Assembly for approvals. Wike, who derives his powers from the President, must do the same,” she said.

The allegations come amid broader concerns about land management in the FCT. Reports indicate that over 2,000 hectares of land—valued at approximately $3.6 billion—were allocated to Joaq Farms and Estates Ltd, a company linked to Wike’s son.

Minister Wike has denied the allegations, with his spokesperson calling the claims “malicious and baseless.” However, civil society organizations and transparency advocates have called for an independent investigation into the matter.

Senator Kingibe concluded with a firm stance: “I am not afraid of anybody. It’s God who protects. I have rights as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I will continue to speak truth to power.”
