President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Kano State today on a solemn condolence visit to honor the memory of the late elder statesman, business mogul, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away on June 28 in Abu Dhabi at the age of 94.

The President’s visit underscores a gesture of national unity and deep respect for the legacy of the late Dantata, whose contributions to commerce, public service, and philanthropy left an indelible mark on Nigeria. Dantata was the last surviving child of Alhassan Dantata and uncle to Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf welcomed the President and described the visit as “a moment of solemn reflection and national respect.” He urged Kano residents to receive the President warmly and in an orderly manner, in line with the state’s tradition of hospitality and dignity.

President Tinubu, who had been abroad during Dantata’s passing, had earlier directed key ministers to attend the burial in Saudi Arabia as a mark of honor. Today’s visit allowed him to personally extend his condolences to the Dantata family and the people of Kano.

Security and logistics arrangements were put in place to ensure a smooth and dignified visit, with thousands of residents lining the streets to pay their respects.

President Tinubu’s visit reaffirms the nation’s commitment to honoring its icons and preserving the values of service, unity, and generosity that Dantata embodied.
