The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a female suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a pregnant nurse, whose dismembered body was discovered in a suspected shrine in the state.
The shocking incident, which has left the community in deep sorrow and outrage, unfolded after the nurse was reported missing several days ago. Following a coordinated intelligence-led operation, police investigators traced the suspect to a remote location in the state where a shrine was uncovered.
Upon searching the premises, officers reportedly recovered disturbing evidence including human body parts believed to belong to the deceased. Preliminary investigations suggest the crime may be ritual-related.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest and noted that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing intense interrogation.
“We acted swiftly on credible intelligence and were able to apprehend a key female suspect involved in the disappearance and murder of the victim. A shrine containing human remains was discovered at the suspect’s residence,” said Ikenga. “Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scale of the crime and identify any accomplices.”
The identity of the victim has been confirmed as a practicing nurse who was several months pregnant at the time of her death. The police have vowed to ensure that justice is served and have urged the public to remain calm while the investigation continues.
The Anambra State Police Command further appealed to residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, assured that no effort will be spared in bringing all those responsible for this heinous act to justice.
