The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a scathing rebuke of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, following his recent comments made during a town hall meeting in Maryland, United States, where he claimed that “99.99% of criminals and kidnappers arrested in Anambra State are Igbo youths.”

In a statement released by IPOB’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, the group described the governor’s remarks as reckless, inflammatory, and genocidally provocative, warning that such statements could endanger the lives of innocent Igbo youths across the Southeast.

“Governor Soludo’s baseless utterances have now become a green light for Nigerian security agencies and Fulani-sponsored militias to commence another round of massacre and abductions of innocent youths,” the statement read.

IPOB accused the governor of pandering to political interests and attempting to curry favor with the federal government at the expense of his own people. The group challenged Soludo to present verifiable evidence, including investigative reports or court convictions, to substantiate his claims.

Furthermore, IPOB expressed disappointment over Soludo’s perceived shift in stance regarding the continued detention of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. While the governor had previously advocated for Kanu’s release, IPOB said his current posture contradicts those efforts.

The group concluded by demanding Governor Soludo’s immediate resignation, stating that his leadership has become a threat to the safety and dignity of the Igbo people.

“Let our people not be deceived. The true enemies are often those who appear in our midst under the guise of leadership, while working against the safety and freedom of their own people,” IPOB warned.
