The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has clarified that the recent show of support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji at a political rally does not in any way foreclose the ambitions of other party members ahead of the 2026 elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Ekiti State APC Publicity Secretary, the party emphasized its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and fair play in all electoral processes.
“The rally held in support of Governor Oyebanji is a reflection of the love and appreciation of the people for his developmental strides and leadership style,” the statement read. “However, it must be stated clearly that this does not translate to the exclusion or suppression of other interested aspirants within the APC. Every member of the party retains the right to pursue their political aspirations within the bounds of party rules.”
The party assured its members and the general public that when the time comes, APC will provide a level playing field for all aspirants to contest for the party’s ticket, reaffirming that democratic processes will guide every step of the selection.
“We are a party built on democratic values and open competition. No individual or group has the authority to impose candidates, and our internal mechanisms are designed to accommodate all shades of opinion,” the statement added.
The Ekiti APC called on members to remain focused on the collective goal of delivering good governance to the people and to avoid divisive narratives that could weaken party unity ahead of the 2026 general elections.
