Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has raised serious concerns about the current administration, alleging that President Bola Tinubu’s government has been overtaken by individuals driven by self-interest rather than national progress.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ndume described the President’s close aides as “kleptocrats” and “kakistocrats,” asserting that they have effectively “kidnapped” the presidency. He criticized these officials for misleading the President and failing to address the pressing issues affecting Nigerians.
“I see people lying and telling the President what he wants to hear,” Ndume stated. “The people who are supposed to help him are the ones deceiving him or damaging his image.”
The senator further explained that kleptocrats are those who engage in politics for personal gain, while kakistocrats are individuals who hold positions they are unqualified for. He lamented the disconnect between the presidency and the hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians, emphasizing that the President is shielded from the realities on the ground.
“The President cannot go out to the streets like myself and know how the people feel. Even outside the villa, they would drive him in tinted glass so he doesn’t even see what is going on,” Ndume remarked.
